A cancer survivor recently told us when he was diagnosed, “I didn’t
just want to live, I wanted a life.” After hearing the words “you have cancer”
the first reaction is to focus on how to live. Here in Baton Rouge, we’re
blessed to be in a community with wonderful cancer treatment and medical
facilities to help our families, friends and neighbors live. But having a
meaningful life is more than living and that’s where Cancer Services steps in.
Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge is here to fill in emotional, financial
and educational gaps that arise for a cancer patient and their loved ones, from
the moment of diagnosis through the rest of their lives.
Our mission is to improve life for those living with cancer. We’ve discovered that it means something unique to each one of our clients. For some, it’s a life more supported or a life with less financial worry. For others, it’s a life more independent, a life better informed or simply a life with a little more fun. Our mission is fulfilled differently for every person that walks through our doors seeking a life less consumed by their diagnosis.
